The Secret is out!

In 2007, I encountered a film that would forever alter the course of my life—The Secret, based on Rhonda Byrne’s bestselling self-help book. This film brought the Law of Attraction into mainstream consciousness, proposing a compelling idea: our thoughts have the power to shape our reality. It suggests that by focusing on positive thoughts and feelings, we can attract our deepest desires.

Watching The Secret became a turning point. It ignited a shift in me—a transformation that would eventually manifest as The 47 Experience. Almost immediately, I began to witness the remarkable power of intentional thought. The clarity and precision with which my thoughts materialized into real experiences amazed me. I became deeply engaged in mastering my emotions (which was anything but easy) and learning to radiate focused, positive energy. Every time I aligned my mindset, my thoughts began to take form in the physical world. It was both exhilarating and unsettling, pushing me to dig deeper, ultimately leading me into the Bible and strengthening my connection to God.

It soon became clear to me that seeking wealth and power for their own sake could distort my purpose. They risked inflating my ego and creating a dangerous illusion of superiority. Although I had once desired material abundance, I realized I wasn’t ready to receive true wealth—not without the wisdom to handle it responsibly. I was more interested in understanding the deeper truths behind these principles. Like King Solomon, who famously asked God for wisdom rather than riches or power—and was granted all three—I decided to seek knowledge and spiritual clarity first.

‘God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. ‘

1 Kings 4:29

My focus narrowed to two areas where I longed for deep understanding: health and wealth. My desire to understand health was born from personal loss. A few years prior, my wife at the time and I had watched her uncle, Tio Marco, pass away from liver cancer at just 47 years old. That experience left a profound mark on me. I sent out a sincere thought—a prayer—to understand the truth about health. What followed was a flood of insights that opened my eyes to the realities of the wellness industry. The truths I discovered set me free, and I became a conscious consumer. This awareness has helped me stay healthy to this day.

As for wealth, I embarked on a journey of education and self-development. I absorbed the teachings of great minds like Robert Kiyosaki, Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, Og Mandino, and many others. Their wisdom reshaped my perspective on money, value, and true prosperity.

In essence, The Secret echoes timeless spiritual teachings, particularly those found in the Bible. While it uses modern language like “manifesting” instead of “praying,” the core message is strikingly familiar to those who follow Christ’s teachings. The book avoids religious terminology, not to deceive, but to ensure accessibility—allowing people from all walks of life to receive its message without the barriers of doctrine. The title itself—The Secret—is more marketing than mystery. For believers, these are not secrets at all.

Jesus said it clearly in Matthew 6:6:

“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Matthew 6:6

Some criticize The Secret for promoting materialism and greed. While this concern is valid, it’s important to recognize that God and His angels can use any tool—yes, even a self-help book—to guide someone toward spiritual growth. Discouraging someone from a path they believe is helping them can interfere with their spiritual free will, which carries serious implications. Growth often begins where people are most receptive. For me, The Secret was that starting point—an open door to something far greater.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

Matthew 7:7
